Taipei Weather Station

Weather Station and Calibration Centre

New Taipei City Government

The design of the Taipei Weather Station is a manifestation of the environment that it inhabits and seeks to observe, going beyond just adapting to the environment by establishing an observable dialogue with nature. Movable fins are activated by wind currents, rain can be observed threading their undulating surfaces who’s Corten material is an expression of environmental forces, all while a waning sun can be seen using them to compose a dance of filtered light and shadow across the building’s wind flow derived form. The whole is a reflection of the belief that architecture can enable creativity, inspiration, mental health and well-being.
