Out now: iF Design Trend Report 2025

The new complexity of simplicity in design.

iF Design Trend Report 2025

In an age of rapid change, design not only helps us understand these shifts but also empowers us to actively shape them. This extends beyond simply integrating new innovations and technologies; alongside values and interdisciplinary collaboration, it encompasses the ability to envision and critically analyze future scenarios. But what are the most disruptive shifts reshaping the global design landscape in the near future?

On over 300 pages the iF Design Trend Report 2025 helps designers deepen their understanding of these transformative trends. It's the fourth time we've collaborated with The Future:Project, connecting cross-disciplinary design trends with key technological and social trends.

This interdisciplinary approach enables designers and industry experts to quickly transfer knowledge, offering a diverse and comprehensive perspective on the global design landscape. This year's iF Design Trend Report focuses on six major transformations in our society:

CONSCIOUS ECONOMY

Care for Talents | Servitization

A significant shift in corporate strategy is underway, placing purpose, service, and care at its core to generate societal impact. This evolution leverages new technologies and innovative service design to foster long-term loyalty among both customers and employees. Design is central to this shift, as it helps unify functional excellence with emotional connections.

HUMAN DIGITALITY

Human-Machine-Teamplay | Playfulness

The more complex technologies become, the more the requirements for the interfaces between products and services also increase. While the aim for a long time was to make a product intuitive to use, this interaction has now become much more complex. A new culture of interaction and the AI boom require new design solutions, while playfulness offers a serious approach.

CO-SOCIETY

Redefining Wealth | Care Revolution

A multidimensional understanding of prosperity has become increasingly evident, taking immaterial components into consideration such as individual quality of life, social participation and ecological sustainability in equal parts. Products and services are imbued with experiences, feelings, and values beyond their practical use.

MINDSHIFT REVOLUTION

Ungendered Lifestyle | Mental Health

The topic of mental health has reached the center of society, as mental stress and loneliness are on the rise. A preventative approach for mental health is becoming the norm. Design drives inclusivity by transcending gender binaries, focusing on function, accessibility, and emotional resonance to create products and spaces that celebrate diverse lifestyles.

ECO TRANSITION

Green High-Tech | Sustainable Sharing

The Eco Transition describes the global trans-formation to a holistic, circular and ecosystemic society. Thanks to green hightech, the energy transition is in full swing. Design approaches such as Sustainable Sharing show how materials and artifacts can be used, regene-rated and reused in smart ways. By integrating biodiversity, design fosters environments that support both people and nature.

GLOCALIZATION

Cross-Cultural Learning | Resilient Supply

Glocalization is seeking a new balance between global connectedness and local stability that will make us more resilient – on an economic, ecological and social level. In a globalized world, cross-cultural learning fosters cultural exchange at an equal level – an understanding for other cultures, perspectives and practices.

Here's what you'll find inside in the iF Design Trend Report:
