Leica Camera AG

Since the 1920s the M-series has represented the soul of Leica, and every new M sparks intense anticipation. With the “M9”, the stakes were even higher: it would either answer the Leica fan’s prayers or confirm that Leica had truly missed the digital-photography boat. To demonstrate how the “M9’s” performance sets new benchmarks without losing any of its ancestors’ authenticity, we reduced the design down to a stage for the (much more important) photographic story: a classic M-style assignment documenting a day in the life of an amateur boxer in Havana, where boxing remains pure, simple, non-commercial and even noble. Values that Leica lives by, too.
