KUKA is a user-friendly charging solution for electric cars. When a car is parked next to the unit the flap of the charging port opens. Then the robot arm with its connector drives autonomously to the port and recharges the car batteries. It is a complete and customized new development of kinematics, controller and image processing, that meets the special requirements in terms of price, safety, and environmental conditions. KUKA presents the first robot also for home and public use and opens up a completely new field of automation application. The design avoids the risk of injury and expresses KUKA’s corporate identity.
