Creative Ecofactory Santos

The Creative EcoFactory was established through a partnership between the Municipality of Santos City and Club Design of Santos, a civil society organization, aiming to generate capacity building and better income for vulnerable groups. The Old Market District, where it is located used to have a issue concerned to improper wood garbage disposal. In the Creative EcoFactory, furniture projects are designed by 30 designers and architects to be done by students using only recycled wood. The project impacts on at least 8 of the 17 UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. As a result, 3 tons of wood have already been recycled in 1 year.

JURY STATEMENT

This public-private and civil society partnership has sustainability in its DNA. Waste wood is transformed by underprivileged citizens into sellable products. Creative and well considered!
