Today, 131 international and prestigious design professionals - from renowned icons to younger shootingstars, from global players to smaller creative hubs - are part of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2025 Jury!

Take a look behind the scenes of the iF Final Jury 2024 in Berlin - and find out what the jurors think.

From almost 11,000 entries, the expert jury selected the best designs for the Final Jury in Berlin. For three days, they decided on the next winners and voted on who would receive one of the coveted Gold Awards!

Highly international and neutral

Being part of the jury, is a professional appreciation! Our jurors come from over 20 countries and bring very different backgrounds to the evaluation process. They have to have high intercultural understanding: They should know why a coffee machine in Turkey has to fulfill different criteria as in North America.

Intercultural Understanding

What else do we look for in our jurors: At best the international design community should know the juror and trust him or her to make an objective, neutral evaluation. They have to have an "eye" for the smallest detail and they have to be fair in their judging. Our jurors have to understand which cultural influences stand for certain design criteria. They need the ability to distinguish it and have to have an intercultural understanding. We look for designers which much diversity, and worked in different regions or for companies all over the world.

Where to find these Jurors?

iF Design does an intensive scouting by monitoring different media, visiting companies, studios and events as well as by asking former jurors for their recommendations. This is something we do right after the jury sessions. After all, our jurors know best what it takes to be a great juror and where to find them.

Ana Relvão - Relvãokellermann Studio, Munich, Germany

"My personal motivation derives from a desire to comprehend and contribute to the evolving landscape of industrial design. The opportunity to see the majority of the applications in real during the final jury session is not only extremely beneficial for successful judging, but it also provides a unique opportunity to deepen my appreciation for innovative design approaches and engage with fellow professionals who share a similar dedication to design excellence."

The new Jury Process

In 2021, iF Design adapted the jury process: Since then, we have included an Online Preselection as well as more detailed jury feedback for participants: the iF Scorecard.

We asked one of the designers involved why the new feedback means more than just yes or no.

Werner Aisslinger, Studio Aisslinger, Berlin, Germany

The iF jury is a unique opportunity to expand your own design horizons in the best atmosphere."
