Kiezkaufhaus: The sustainable alternative to Amazon
Kiezkaufhaus is a local online market place where independent Wiesbaden-based retailers offer their products. Orders are delivered with an e-cargo bike. As a result, Kiezkaufhaus is faster and more environmentally friendly than regular online shops. But retailers and customers are not the only ones that benefit from the platform. The city of Wiesbaden loses some €500,000 of tax income annually due to purchases from retailers outside of the city. Kiezkaufhaus therefore ensures that tax revenues remain in the region. Kiezkaufhaus will be set up as a social franchise in other cities in the future.
